Detailed GDPR information for the SBD Online Application Process

  1. The organisation processing your personal data is Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI). If you have any questions about how we use your personal data you can contact us via Liz Clark, Corporate Services Manager, 2nd Floor, 50 Broadway, St James’s Park, Westminster, London, SW1H 0BL, email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.; Tel: 0203 8623 999
  2. For the purposes of the Secured by Design initiative we collect and process limited personal information including name, contact details, and role or job title, as well as some limited geographic data.
  3. We only collect and process information received directly from you. We do not combine this data with any other personal information.
  4. We use your personal data only for the Secured by Design initiative administration, and, if you have opted in to doing so, to keep you updated on training opportunities we can provide to you and your colleagues. This may include processing your data in relation to any incomplete applications too, for example, to see if you want to carry on and complete them.
  5. If you wish to unsubscribe from receiving more information about our initiatives, for example Secured by Design, our webinars, seminars and crime prevention courses, you may do so at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in any emails sent to you regarding this. If you have opted in to receiving updates from us and then unsubscribe we may keep your information indefinitely to ensure we do not accidentally resubscribe you without your permission. This is often known as keeping your details on a suppression list.
  6. The lawful basis for processing your data for the Secured by Design application is your legitimate interest in the development being accredited to Secured by Design. The personal data you have entered in relation to any SBD application is directly linked to that application and can not be deleted without the application also being deleted. Under such circumstances we would delete the SBD application along with your personal data and your scheme or development could not proceed.
  7. Your personal data will be accessible to workers at Police CPI and staff at the relevant police force that will work with us on your accreditation application. We do not share your personal data with anyone else unless there is a compelling reason to do so, such as in connection with a police investigation, complaint, or legal action.
  8. Your application is kept securely and confidentially within the United Kingdom.
  9. You have a number of rights to control your data. If you wish to exercise any of these rights please use the contact details above. Your rights, briefly, are:
    • The right to know what we do with your data. This privacy notice is part of complying with that right
    • The right to know what data we hold about you. You can get this by making a subject access request to the contact details above
    • You can ask us to delete your personal data. We will consider each request but it may not be possible to comply with all requests because of the need to retain personal data for the reasons set out above
    • If your data are factually inaccurate or incomplete you can have your information updated
    • You can ask us to transfer the data you have given us to another organisation electronically
    • You can object to the processing of your personal data for either the Secured by Design accreditation programme or our wider updates. We will consider any objection you raise and we will work with you to resolve your objection
    • You can ask us to restrict how we process your personal data. This may be because you are exercising another right and do not want us to process your personal data while we are working on that request for example.
  10. If you are not satisfied with how we have processed your personal data in the first instance please contact us. Alternatively you can contact the Information Commissioner by:
